One of the most common questions I see asked for Mythic Legions is, “How do you put on the capes”? While the studio has said multiple times that people can decide which looks best to them, we thought it would be helpful to newer fans to see some examples of how to attach these capes, including a few variations:
Down the Back
Probably the most common way to attach a cape is to use the pegs on the pauldrons to have the cape hang down the back of the figure. Here is how to do this.
Step 1 – Lay the cape out and you will notice that there are 4 small holes. (Pic 1 below)
Step 2 – Pop the peg from the pauldron armor through one of the middle holes in the cape. (Pic 2 below)
Step 3 – Fold the edge of the cape over as in Pic 3 below
Step 4 – Fold the edge the cape again (up this time) and pop the pauldron peg through the hole (Pic 4 below).
Step 5 – Plug the pauldron into the hole on the back of the torso. You will repeat this process for the other side of the cape and the other pauldron. The cape will be bit bunched in back (Pic 5 below), so play with it until it looks good to you.
In Front of the Pauldrons
As an alternative look, some people like to have the cape come under the pauldron, hooking it on the disc in front of that armor. To do this, follow steps 1 and 2 above for each pauldron and then pop them into the back, leaving the extra cape holes on each side free. Drape the remainder of the cape over each shoulder but under the pauldron so the cape’s second holes are in front of the figure. (shown a bit exaggerated in the pic below). You will then fold the cape edge up and pop the small disc on the front of the armor through the holes. Reposition the cape so it looks natural to you.
Using the Arms
One final method we will show is one where you use the arms of the figure through one of the cape holes so it hangs down the side of that figure a bit. For this you would first remove the arms and set them aside. Once again follow steps 1 and 2 for one pauldron and then plug that pauldron into the back. Next, you will pop the peg of the arm through the hole in the cape and plug that arm back into the torso (Pic 1 below). Repeat this for the other pauldron/arm and your cape will hang nicely down the side (Pic 2 below).
There are undoubtedly other ways you could attach these soft goods capes, but these three methods are the ones I personally use and most often see from other collectors. I hope this helps answer this infamous question – “How do I attach the Mythic Legions’ capes!?”
