Biography
In the far northern part of Xylernia, located in a small bay near the kingdom’s border with Leandorr, stands an ancient necropolis in a city called Duskvale. It is here where arguably the most mysterious of the Elven sub-species resides. This is the home of the Ghost Elves.
Named for their pale skin, as well as their charge as the caretakers of the tombs at Duskvale, the Ghost Elves serve a vital function in Xylernian society – as steadfast guardians between the realm of the living and the world of the dead.
See more of the lore on the Necropolis at Duskvale here, or read the bios below for 2 of the characters found in this set.
THE BARROWSEER -
The supreme head of Duskvale’s Necropolis, the Barrowseer ensures that the Ghost Elves’ do not waver in their sacred duties as they guard the spirits of the Fae-born who have passed on from their immortal lives in the Realm of Mythoss. There has only ever been one Barrowseer at Duskvale, and it is said that this ancient Ghost Elf used his own hands to lay the first stones that formed the foundation of the sprawling Necropolis. If the Barrowseer had a name before he came to Duskvale, it has been lost to time. Today he is simply known as the Barrowseer.
The head of Duskvale’s Necropolis is also charged with leading the Ghostly Hunt. This yearly ritual keeps the powerful magical forces found in Duskvale under control, keeping the rest of the Realm safe from what would happen is the Ghost Elves failed in their duties and the monsters known at the Draugerherdd ever escaped into Mythoss.
THE PALE HUNTRESS -
A title bestowed upon the most decorated hunter amongst the Ghost Elves of Duskvale, the Pale Huntress (or Hunter) is given the honor of being the first to fire during the Ghostly Hunt. Whichever hunter captures the most Draugerherdd during a hunt is honored with the title following year. For the past dozen years, this honor has been given to a young female Ghost Elf named Cuileane Shadeleaf.
Born and raised in Duskvale, Cuileane has never known a home outside of the Necropolis, nor has she ever had any duty beyond that which occupies her immortal days now. That duty, like the rest of the Ghost Elves of Duskvale, is to keep the Realm safe from the nightmares who would cause it harm, and to hunt down any of those monsters that try to escape from the Necropolis.
