Biography

Coinciding with the Feast of the Great Stag, when the rest of Xylernia is engaged in communal feasting and sharing, the Ghost Elves of Duskvale hold their own unique ritual. Opening the doors of the Necropolis, they intentionally allow a small portion of the energies gathered within to escape. These energies often manifest in terrifying ways, and the Ghost Elves have named the creatures that come from the dark shadows of Duskvale the Draugerherdd. These creatures are allowed but a temporary existence, for once they are freed, the Hunt begins.

The Hunters purse the Draugerherdd and, once they are captured, those monsters are destroyed and their magical energies returned to the confines of Duskvale. This process serves a very practical purpose in that it allows for a relief of the magical energies contained within the Necropolis, while the resulting Hunt ensures that the magically manifested monstrosities do not make their way into the Realm to do harm to others.

See more of the lore on the Necropolis at Duskvale here, or read the bios below for 2 of the characters found in this set.

THE ADHARACHH - While the monstrosities that result from the escaped magical energies of Duskvale manifest in unusual and unpredictable ways, there is one manifestation that appears each season during the Ghostly Hunt. This creature is known as the Adharachh.

There are no records in the archives of Duskvale that detail a creature similar to this beastly white-furred minotaur having been laid to rest within the Necropolis. It is believed that this monstrosity is instead an amalgamation of various energies taking a form similar to some one of the species found in Mythoss. What is not clear is why this same beast emerges every season and whether or not there is some purpose to its existence.

Hunting down the Adharachh has become the responsibility of the head of the Duskvale – the Barrowseer.  This is no small task, as the monster has shown that it remembers everything from previous hunts. This makes each Ghostly Hunt a more dangerous and desperate contest between the Barrowseer and the Adharachh.

THE HORRUUR - Many of the Fae-born whose bodies are brought to Duskvale are those who have died willingly as they heroically defended the Realm. Others have chosen, for one reason or another, to quietly pass from this place to whatever comes next. Yet, not all Fae souls who dwell within the Necropolis are at peace. There are those who died in great pain, and the energies that remain as they pass on are infected with the horrors of their death. When these energies emerge from Duskvale as Draugerherdd, they often appear as rotted mockeries of the beings they once were. The Ghost Elves call these creatures Horruurs, and they are some of the most difficult of all Draugerherdd to return to the safety of the Necropolis.
