Gathered Intelligence on this Subject:
The 2nd generation of Autonomous Cybernetics technology aimed to blend the mechanics of Construct Units with organic forms. Much different than simple cybernetic enhancements, the ACU-2 technology was intended to bring life to machinery. Instead, it brought a form of suspended death to all it touched.
“Mechroticon” is the name that was given to the unexpected creations that resulted from the ACU-2 experiments, creating organic data conduits that were neither alive nor dead. The integration of these cybernetics, coupled with an injection extracted from Cephalosite genetic materials to ensure the organic bodies did not reject the new additions, resulted in an unexpected form of suspended existence for the host bodies. While the bodies of the Mechroticon look to have decayed, physically they are healthier than ever (unlike Cephalosites who slowly consume and destroy their host bodies). Other than their outward appearance, these creatures do not seem to be aging in any measurable way.
While the ACU-2 technology has been banned across all 5 Circles, and officially this tech is no longer in use, there are whispers of colonies of Mechroticons being maintained in secret locations across Cosmerrium. Whoever is in charge of these colonies, the intelligence they would have access to thanks to the Mechroticon’s data capabilities is staggering to consider.
The very first Mechroticon, an individual that has been named “Brainer”, was liberated by the Mortal Thorn and has since become an important part of the data gathering and analysis efforts of this clandestine organization.
