Unreleased figure designs from Four Horsemen Studios' Seventh Kingdom

Behind the Scenes: A Look at Never Released Seventh Kingdom Figure Designs

In a previous “Blast from the Past” article, we took a look at the storyline and concepts behind our Seventh Kingdom property. We also listed all the figures from that line that were released and detailed which of the “kingdoms” they belonged to. In this article we will look at the Seventh Kingdom character designs that never made it into actual production. These designs were shown during our FANtastic Exclusive voting process, allowing fans a choice at which toys we would eventually produce. As such, the designs shown in this article have been seen before, but it was many years ago, and most of our new fans will never have seen these concepts.

Our First Seventh Kingdom Figures

Powered by fan voting, our first two releases for this line actually both came from the same kingdom – the animal kingdom. These two releases were Xetheus the minotaur and Rammathor the elephant swordsman.

We would revisit the Seventh Kingdom series one more time with the release of Queen Alluxandra, a character who had been shown during previous FANtastic voting rounds, but which had not made the final cut. Alluxandra represented a new kingdom for our toy line – the human kingdom. You can see the concept art for all three of these characters above.

Visiting Some of the Other Kingdoms

The character art below shows some ideas that we think would’ve made for some very cool, and very different, looking toys! First we have the scarab-like overlord from the Machine Kingdom. Next is a representative of the Human Kingdom, a cyborg-like mercenary. The third image shows what would’be been our first entry into the Alien Kingdom, an alien shaman.

The Mutant Kingdom did get a few figures released for it, and the first photo below shows a character who would’ve been another addition to that group. Finally, the second and third photos below show a few examples of the designs we did for the Elemental Kingdom. The “elemental” idea would’ve given us some very cool concepts to play around with, as you can see in the character art below for the ice and fire elementals.

Looking Back at What Could’ve Been

While we have no plans to revisit the Seventh Kingdom and any of these character designs, it’s always fun to look back at figure designs and imagine what could’ve been. That being said, with us now focused on the high-fantasy world of Mythic Legions, and with future Legions line taking us to new universes, you can bet that you will see great new figures in the future that share in the spirt and explore some of the popular ideas seen in these unusued designs!
